The Generalitat de Catalunya allows the reuse of content and data for everyone worldwide without any temporal limitation or restriction, under the terms established by the Open License for Information Use – Catalunya or by the equivalent legal instrument CC0 from Creative Commons, in accordance with the conditions and regime established in article 17.1 of Law 19/2014, of December 29, on transparency, access to public information and good governance and beyond the basic conditions established in article 8 of Law 37/2007 on the reuse of public sector information (citation of the source, no alteration or distortion of the information and specification of the date of last update), and provided that it does not contradict the license or notice that a work may have, which prevails.
The Generalitat de Catalunya also commits to building websites with responsive design, usable and accessible to guarantee access to all people who consult them regardless of their physical, sensory or intellectual abilities and also the device they use to connect.
 

Methods of reusing information on gencat.cat

The reuse of public information is free and not subject to restrictions, except in cases where, by regulation, it is subject to obtaining a specific license, due to the protection of other rights or legal assets, or to the prior request of the interested party. Therefore, in accordance with current regulations, the Generalitat de Catalunya allows the reproduction, distribution and public communication of the work and, in addition, the transformation of the work to create derivative works, for everyone worldwide and without any temporal limitation, under the terms established by the Open License for Information Use – Catalunya or by the equivalent legal instrument CC0 from Creative Commons, and that does not contradict the license or notice that a work may have, which prevails.
To reuse the information, the following conditions must be followed:

  • Do not distort the meaning of the information.
  • Always cite the source of the information.
  • Mention the date of the last update of the information.

The source must always be mentioned: Generalitat de Catalunya. Department of [department name]. [autonomous body, public company] except in cases where there is a specific license, where it will be necessary to acknowledge the authorship and ownership of the exploitation rights.

Other methods of reuse

Likewise, reuse may be limited by the protection of other priority legal assets, such as the protection of personal data, privacy or third-party intellectual property rights. The reuse of works protected by intellectual property can be formalized through the use of open dissemination licenses, such as Creative Commons, which grant certain exploitation rights to the works. In content where this type of license is applied, reuse is allowed under the conditions established therein.
The use of logos, trademarks, coats of arms and distinctive symbols of the Generalitat de Catalunya is not authorized under any circumstances in publications and websites that are not participated in or sponsored by this institution. These corporate graphic identity elements are the exclusive property of the Generalitat de Catalunya and are protected by applicable current legislation.
